Going under for the third time!

That's right - I'm going under ( well... actually across ) to my bookshelf for a third helping of fantabulous fantasy illustrations from illustrator supreme ( and mighty swell guy I might add ) Gerry Lazare.
I've written at length on this blog in the past about my re-discovery of Gerry's work, my luck in getting in touch with the still active artist, and the joy ( and frustration ) in acquiring three of Gerry's originals from his Canadian elementary school reader work of the early 1960s.

So once again I'm sharing some more scans from these wonderful books over at my Flickr page.
See you there!

Hooray for Wally Wood!

...and all the other 400 cartoonists featured in the 1972 National Society of Cartoonists annual that I've posted samples from at Flickr right now!

Busy as a Bunny!

The old work deadlines are once again piling up 'round these here parts, and so the frequency and length of postings at GLENMULLALY.COM...The Blog have been sorely neglected.
Fear not - true believer! I've plenty of inconsequential ramblings on the back burner including another vintage animation background feature, the long overdue latest installment of "Diggin' Through the Vaults " a look at some of my print illustration work that, for one ratsin' - fratsin' reason or another, didn't make it to print, and a hard hitting photo investigation into the truth behind "Birthday Cakes of the Late 1960s and 70s"!

For the time being, however, please make do with a small helping of Easter flavoured vintage illustrations at the best-darn photo sharing site this side of Albuquerque.

Give me that Old Time Illustration!

Charles Harper may be best known for his highly stylized illustrations of animals, especially birds and fish. But he could draw some pretty amazing people too. Up now on Flickr I'm posting a number of non-animal Harper illustrations from 1950s issues of Ford Times magazine for all to enjoy!

Knew Know?

The new Know's now knocking about on newsstands near you! Don't be a knucklehead, knock off that knitting and knee-sock it down to your neighbourhood newsdealer for all the Nile-themed fun.
As always featuring the "Know Fun" puzzles and games feature by everybody's favourite illustrator with the initials G.M. If your local bookstore doesn't carry this terrific children's science magazine ( and it's sister publication Yes Mag ) ask for it now!

Shhhh!

Don't tell anyone, but the latest issue of Kayak magazine is now on the stands. This month Canada's favourite kid's history mag explores the classified world of spying with a cover and feature story illustrated by Mullaly... Glen Mullaly. So grab your trenchcoat and briefcase and stop by your local undisclosed newsstand or bookstore for all the Cold War fun.

This message will now self-destruct in five, four, three...
